Idaho Campus Choice (previously known as Direct Admissions)
Idaho Campus Choice, previously called Direct Admissions, proactively admits seniors to the state’s public colleges and universities based on the students’ GPAs and historically SAT/ACT scores. Apply Idaho is the place where students can apply online for FREE to one or more of the participating 10 colleges. These colleges are BSU, U of I, ISU, LCSC, CWI, NIC, CEI, CSI, NNU, C of I.
With Idaho Campus Choice, students receive one of two letters. One letter has automatic acceptance to 6 public colleges (CWI, NIC, CSI, CEI, LCSC, ISU – College of Technology), and the other letter grants admission to 8 colleges. The two colleges that are added are BSU and U of I, and ISU 4 year admissions, not just the College of Technology. The letter students receive depends on the 6th semester (or 2nd semester of 11th grade) GPA. This year the GPA for the 8 letter is 2.6 and above, and students with a GPA below 2.6 will receive the 6 letter.
Only students that were attending an Idaho public high school will receive a letter. However, any student graduating this year is encouraged to apply to any of the colleges via Apply Idaho.
The State Board of Education will mail these letters to students’ homes in early October. They have also scheduled postcards to go out later in October. Students may also view their letters within Apply Idaho.
The ability to submit a free, common application to one or more of the 10 participating schools will open on October 2 via Apply Idaho. It is recommended that you only apply to 2 or 3 colleges - the ones you would actually attend, not all 10.
A comprehensive application guide has been created to help students with each section of Apply Idaho. The Apply Idaho team has also created a guide to help students prepare for the supplemental questions and to give a heads-up about prompts that are specific to a parent or guardian's experience.
Even with automatically being accepted to colleges, students still MUST apply to be able to officially be accepted. You will need to take that extra step to apply, so that the college knows you are interested. Idaho Campus Choice just takes off some of that pressure students often feel wondering if they will get in.
Regardless of which letter you receive, you still have the option to apply to any or all of Idaho’s public colleges and universities under normal deadlines and be considered alongside all other in-state and out-of-state applicants. If you have your heart set on one of the colleges not on your letter, we would encourage you to still apply!!
