Driver Education courses
Inspire does not offer a Driver Education course. There are a few options to consider.
IDLA Driver Education Course
The Idaho Driver Education and Training Program is a formal and organized education and training program to introduce and develop good driving habits and attitudes for a lifetime of responsible, reduced-risk driving strategies. This online Driver's Education course offered by Idaho Digital Learning Alliance (IDLA) fulfills the requirement of 30 hours of classroom time required by the state; students and their families must separately arrange to complete the required 6 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction and 6 hours of active backseat observation with an approved instructor in order to be eligible for an Idaho Driver's license.
For the purpose of licensing, the Driver Education course is pass/fail and students must earn at least an 80% in each of these areas: classroom instruction, in-car behind the wheel instruction, and attitude to pass. Students must be at least 14 1/2 years of age and must secure a Supervised Instruction Permit from the Department of Motor Vehicles before registering for this class.
The IDLA Driver Education course fee of $75 may be paid for with Advanced Opportunities funds. However, students must arrange and pay for the behind-the-wheel instruction with a local public or private Driver Education instructor before starting the class. Classroom work and driving instruction must be completed concurrently.
Please reach out to your school counselor to register for the IDLA Driver Education class. The school counselor will need your permit number in order to register you for the class.
Local School/School District
Some of our students take Driver Education through their local school district. Please reach out to them directly to inquire about your options. If the school district transcribes the credit, Advanced Opportunities funds may be used to help cover the cost of the course, up to $225. Many school districts do not transcribe the credit, and therefore, the class fee must be covered entirely by the student and family. Please reach out to your school counselor for more details.
